The Club — Campbell River, BC. Est. 1969.

Good company, a warm welcome, and the best view in town.

The Campbell River Business Society's private lounge above the downtown waterfront — now welcoming new members, and opening its doors for private events.

Welcome to The Club

Pull up a chair

For more than half a century, The Club has been where Campbell River gathers. Founded by the Campbell River Business Society in 1969, it began as a place for the town's business folk to talk shop over a drink. It became something better: a living room for downtown.

The recipe hasn't changed much. A cozy lounge. A well-kept bar. A deck with a view that runs across Discovery Passage to Quadra Island and stops conversation mid-sentence. Some things you don't improve — you just look after them.

Now we're starting a new chapter: opening our doors wider than ever, welcoming new members, hosting open-house days, and sharing our space with the community for private events. There's room at the table. Come and see.

Our Story

Est. 1969 — and just getting started

Every town has a room where things get decided, celebrated and occasionally exaggerated. This is ours.

1969

The doors open

The Campbell River Business Society opens a members' club in the heart of downtown. The idea is simple: good company, a proper drink, and a comfortable place to close the deal — or celebrate it.

1970s

Making the room our own

A round of renovations gives the lounge the warm, unhurried character members still recognize today. The chairs get deeper. The evenings get longer.

1980s

The deck goes on

We add the deck and discover we'd been sitting beneath the best view in downtown Campbell River all along. Summer evenings are never quite the same again.

1990s

A downtown fixture

Retirements, anniversaries, quiet Tuesdays and loud Fridays. The Club settles into its role as one of downtown's steadiest gathering places, one good evening at a time.

We open our doors wider: new members, open-house days, and a space the whole community can book for its own occasions. The next fifty years start here.

🍸 About the bar: bar service covers our licensed bartenders and glassware — bar and beverage costs aren't included, with a beverage list and pricing available on request. We provide one bartender for up to 35 guests, two for up to 50, and three bartenders plus support staff for events over 50.

🍽 Food: we run a great bar, not a kitchen, so food or coffee service must come from an outside caterer approved by the club. We're happy to point you toward local favourites who already know the room.

🗝

A voice in the club

This is a society, not a franchise. Members shape what The Club becomes next — and this is a particularly good moment to have a say.

"If you're building a career or a business in Campbell River, consider this a standing invitation. The Club was founded by people at exactly your stage: ambitious, busy, and glad of a good place to land at the end of the day. You don't need a title or a tie — just like this town, and good company. The next era of The Club belongs to the people who show up for it. We'd love that to include you."

Open House Evenings

Try before you join

The best way to understand The Club is to stand on the deck with a drink in hand. We host regular open-house evenings — tour the space, meet a few members, ask us anything. No pressure, no hard sell, no secret handshake.

Kind Words

In our members' own words

We moved to Campbell River 9 years ago and were invited to the Club by a member for a drink. We joined that evening as everyone was very welcoming. We've since made many friends, enjoyed the special events as well as casual drop ins for a glass or two and engaging conversations. It's truly a unique Club.
Helen Campbell
The Club as I call it can be compared to having a large living room and deck with a great view and relaxed atmosphere. Conversation comes easily with this combination.
John Duncan
A very nice venue to meet and talk with very nice people. The events are very special and I doubt found anywhere else.

Good to Know

Questions, answered

How do I book the space?

Send us an enquiry with your preferred date, a rough guest count and the kind of event you have in mind. We'll confirm availability, arrange a walkthrough so you can see the room, and hold your date.

Can we bring our own food or hire a caterer?

Yes — in fact, you'll need to. The Club has a bar but no kitchen, so food or coffee service must come from an outside caterer approved by the club. We're glad to suggest a few local favourites who already know the room.

How does bar service work?

Nighttime event rentals are available on Saturdays only, and no bar service is available during the week. Bar service covers our licensed bartenders and glassware — bar and beverage costs aren't included, with a beverage list and pricing available on request. We provide one bartender for up to 35 guests, two for up to 50, and three bartenders plus support staff for events over 50.

Do I need insurance?

Yes — event insurance is required. We can't arrange it for you, but we're glad to recommend where to get it. Tell us about your event in the enquiry form and we'll point you in the right direction.

How many guests can the space hold?

With the deck open through the summer, we comfortably host up to 75 guests; in the cooler months, with everyone indoors, that's around 50. Either way, seated dinners run a little smaller and stand-up receptions a little larger, so tell us your plans and we'll advise.

Do I need to be a member to rent the space?

No. Rentals are open to everyone. Membership is a separate, year-round way to enjoy The Club — and more than a few renters have fallen for the room and joined afterward.

What about parking and accessibility?

We're in downtown Campbell River with street and public parking close by. Tell us about any access needs when you book and we'll do everything we can to make the visit easy for every guest.
